"Over the past year, our late-night news program has devoted increasingly more time to covering national news and less time to covering weather and local news. During the same time period, most of the complaints we received from viewers were concerned with the station's coverage of weather and local news. In addition, several local businesses that used to run advertisements during our late-night news program have just cancelled their advertising contracts with us. Therefore, in order to attract more viewers to our news programs and to avoid losing any further advertising revenues, we should expand the coverage of weather and local news on all our news programs."
Write a response in which you discuss what specific evidence is needed to evaluate the argument and explain how the evidence will weaken or strengthen the argument.

The argument is about a television station who had complains and who lost their advertisers. In addition, the argument comes to conclusion that this was due to their reduction in the time devoted to weather and local news.
Firstly, the advertisers who cancelled the contract for advertising during late night news program may not have cancelled the contract due to the reduction in coverage of weather and local news. There is no any evidence showing that the cancellation is due to this reason. If there is the confirmation that the cancellation is due to the decrease in devoted time of weather and local news then this point can be valid.
Secondly, there is no confirmation that the number of viewers will increase by increasing the coverage of weather and local news. The viewers may not want only local news and may want national news more. There is no evidence in declining the number of viewers and only increasing the devoted time may be increase the number of viewers. The number of viewers can remain constant. This point can be better stated as the number of complains will decline by making the devoted time of coverage of weather and local news.
Thirdly, there is no evidence that making the former level devoted time to weather and local news will prevent local advertisers from cancelling the contract of advertisement. The television station should also analyze the data from previous few years before they conclude any points. The statement of accurate facts can improve the quality of this argument.
In conclusion, this argument is not valid as there is no proper confirmation and evidence of the point stated like the reason behind cancellation of advertiser’s contract. This can be further improved by providing the exact evidence and proper confirmation of the stated points.
