GRE issue essay
A
nation should require all of its students to study same national curriculum
until they enter college.
Write
a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with
the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In
developing and supporting the position, describe specific circumstances in
which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and
explain how these examples shape your position.
Individuals
are identified based on their nationality. Learning the national culture and
the curriculum for all the student is essential in my opinion. I think a nation
should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until
they enter college because different curriculum for different students may not
create a similar kind of knowledge in them.
Firstly,
for example, a student learnt a different curriculum and another student learnt
different curriculum, then during their college admission the college will find
it difficult to make a different criterion for all the students. So, there must
be a general criterion for selection of students which can be made possible
only if the curriculum before college is same. Also, some of the subjects
require national level exams to be taken and that is not possible to make
different questions for all the students based on their curriculum in school.
Secondly,
a student is free to choose their faculty in college, before college there is
no fixed concentration of subjects so, making different curriculum is not that
important. Before college all the students require a basic knowledge on what
they would like to study in their future and that can be made possible by
making a national curriculum for all the students. This also have advantages for
the colleges to specify a specific criterion for selection of students making a
question common for all the students for one specific concentration of subject
and analyze the level of knowledge of students.
Last
but not the least making a specific national curriculum will preserve the time
of member of schools to prepare a separate curriculum for the students. This
can also have disadvantages like not all the students will have interest on
same subject and they may not compete with others on that subject and that can
be difficult for some students to clear the exam but overlooking some of these
disadvantages as everything has good as well as bad aspects making a national
curriculum has more advantages and it must be implemented by the all the
schools of the nation.
In
conclusion, making a national curriculum and making all the students to study
that is more advantageous and is required before college as before college
there will not be any fixed subject concentration of students.
