1.      Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?” A teacher’s ability to relate well with students is more important than excellent knowledge of subject being taught” Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

A good teacher is that who have the skills to make the students understand the subject that he/she is teaching with all his/her knowledge rather than the one who have the most knowledge among others.

I agree with the statement that a teacher’s ability to relate well with students is more important than excellent knowledge of subject being taught as a teacher must be able to make the students understand the topic that he/she is teaching.

If a teacher has the maximum knowledge on his/her subject matter but they cannot make the students understand what they are teaching then there is no importance of that teacher. During my school, there was one biology teacher he had a lot of knowledge in his field but he never made everyone understand the topic in the class and due to this many student were not interested to attend his lecture.

If a teacher has the ability to relate well with the student then he/she can easily make the student understand the topic very easily. I think knowing the level of understanding of student is most important during teaching. As all the student does not have the same level of knowledge and understanding capacity. If a teacher can relate well with student then he/she can make them understand the topic to them even outside of the class or during leisure periods as in class focusing all the students individually may consume the time of the lecture.

Thus, though knowledge is also important the ability of teacher to relate with students is more important as it will make the student understand better the topic, the teacher is teaching and this can encourage the students to attend the class.

  

2.      Some young adults want independence from their parents as soon as possible. Other young adults prefer to live with their families for longer time. Which of these situations do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Independence is desired by all the youngsters these days at a very early age. I think this is not a good option to get independence from family at an early age. I prefer to live with my family for longer time rather than staying alone in the name of independence.

As I was grown up in a joint family, I can know about the importance of having family with you for a longer period of time. If an individual stay in a family for a longer period there are a lot of advantages. Firstly, the person should not spend money to run the house in fact, they can enjoy the food with all of family members rather than alone in a big apartment. The individual can feel more safer if they are with family as they do not have to worry about other household things. All the works are done by the family members and the individual can stay happily without the stress of running the house by themselves.

Secondly, staying with family members allows the children to learn more about the family cultures, rituals and how the things were in the past and know about all the relatives, meet them, gather with them and enjoy their time very well.

Thirdly, staying with family allows a person to give more time to study but if a person stays alone then he/she must worry about the household works and earn money by themselves. But if a child stays at home, rather than worrying about various others works they can only focus on the study and do better on their study.

Thus, I think staying with family for a longer time is better as it allows a child to know more about the family cultures, traditions, and enables them to only focus on studies and feel safe around parents and family members.

3.      Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?” Young people enjoy life more than older people do.” Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Everyone in this world likes to enjoy the life and the definition of enjoying the life differ from person to person and from one age group to other age groups. The older people have different definition of enjoying the life than the young adults have. I disagree with the statement that young people enjoy life more than older people do because the level and definition of enjoying differs among them.

A young adult might think enjoying the life is travelling with friends, partying with huge mass of people, playing games, wandering carefree and do whatever they like to do. But for old people enjoying life can be staying with family members, taking care of children and grandchildren, seeing the rays of smile in the grand children and see the joy in their children’s face.

The older people will enjoy the dinner with family members or their loved ones rather than going to romantic dinner dates and long drives. Older people may not go to long drives or travel more, this does not mean that they are enjoying their life any lesser than the young adults do. With increase in age of people I think the definition of enjoying life changes as I can see the old couple living with their children and grand children are equally enjoying their life as the young adults do when they are with friends travelling or partying with them.

Thus, I think that both age groups are enjoying their life in their own way as the definition of enjoying the life is different in young adults and old aged people. The happiness of seeing their grand-children grow and learn things give any old parents more enjoyment than going on a long drive or some kinds of date.

  

4.      Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? “It is more important to keep your old friends then it is to make new friends.” Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Everybody need friends in their life that friend can be new or old in their life. I believe whether new or old the one who totally understands you is more important friend. I disagree to the statement that it is more important to keep your old friends then it is to make new friends.

A true friend is that who will stand by your side when all other will make excuses to leave, one who totally understands you and will not let you down and continually makes you stronger and encourage you to do best. Having an old friend is a good thing but what if that friend is continually letting you down and is backbiting. The length of friendship cannot determine the importance of friend and cannot ensure that the person is good. We can easily find friends with whom we can feel the deepest connection though they met just a few weeks before. The old friends are also important as they know us the longer than others but this does not mean that one should not make new friends. Even newest friend can be the most important friend in future.

If a person goes in different city leaving all his/ her friend in his previous place. At this condition the person must make new friends as the old friends will not be there with him. We can not always have old friends with us all the time. We must learn to make new friend s and socialize with them well. No matter how short the time of friendship is, the best thing to have is a good connection with that person with whom one can share all the things and ask for the suggestions.

Thus, having a friend with whom you can share all your happiness and problems is more important whether that friend can be new or old. So, it is more important to have a friend either new or old one, length of friendship should not matter.

5.      A new acquaintance of yours is thinking about studying your native language. How would you convince him or her that it would be a good decision? Use specific details and reasons in your response.

Learning something new is always a better option for any one in the world whether that can be a new language or any new place or new cultures. I think learning multiple language is a good thing as one can easily learn about the culture of that language speaker too.

I think this a good decision of my acquaintance to think about my native language as this decision can have various advantages. Firstly, if she knows my native language then we can talk in my own language very comfortably and other will not get any secrets that we are discussing. She also can get chance to learn more about my language as we will be in same place for whole day. She can even practice speaking my language in front of me which enables me to correct her if there are any mistakes and help her to do better.

Secondly, as she loves travelling she can surely visit my country and if she knows my language then while visiting my country, she can easily communicate with all the people around her and when people find out that she can speak their language then the people will be more frank towards her and share a lot of thing about them, their culture and many other things.

Thus, I think that this is a good decision of her to plan about learning my language as this can help her to know foreign language and also know more about my country and native language and she can do fluent communication with the people of my native country.

     

6.      Books can be divided into two main types: fiction (novels and stories) and non-fiction (histories, biographies, self-help books for example). Which of these two types of books do you generally prefer to read? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

People love to read books for various reasons like to get some new information, increase their knowledge on something, to relieve stress, to take break from boring textbooks, etc. I also prefer to read books mostly non-fiction books rather than fiction books.

In non-fiction books I mostly prefer biography and self-help book to study for mainly two reasons. Firstly, reading a biography about someone who did many great works will always encourage me to do things I want to do. When I read biography about a scientist, I get chance to learn about the struggles that he/she had in their life before their achievements and this also enables me to learn about how they handled all the difficult situations they faced during their struggle days.  This helps me to know about the problems and how to tackle them easily and go on the path of success. Reading a self-help book will always have a positive impact in one’s life though the problem people face may be different but they can always read those and get some kind of motivation to do better things in future.

Secondly, reading a non-fiction books makes me forget about my problem and get relieved from the day to day life stress and forget the things in my life and learn about another people’s life. Reading books is a good stress reliever for me as I forget the things around me whenever I start to read. Reading a fiction book will not make me a better person as it is just created in the authors mind and when the book finishes all the things are finished and one cannot learn any better things but from non-fiction book we can learn about people’s different aspects, their hardships, their point of view.

Thus, I prefer to read non-fiction books as this enables me to get to know more about some great people with highest achievements and reading book always makes me relieved learning about other people’s life and reading those self-help books.

7.      Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? “Always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people.” Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

It is said that to hide a lie, one must speak hundred more lies. Telling truth is a better option than to speak lie to the person you love that might be anyone among family or your life partner. I believe always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people.

I think that the foundation of any relationship is the love, trust, honesty, and understanding. The relationship cannot go further if people keep on telling lies to one another. To have a fruitful relationship one must be able to tell the truth no matter how hard telling truth can be. Hiding the truth can create more problems in future. A relationship should be made without secrets hidden. In order to keep the relationship strong people must share all the truths and only one can lead a happy life.

If a person hides the truth from his/her partner then there will be conflicts between them and this conflict and dishonesty will eventually ruin the relationship. But if a person tells the truth and leads the relationship no matter how bitter the truth is, they can accept that with time and lead to happy life.

Thus, I agree that telling truth is most important consideration in any relationship as the whole relationship depends on them and the more open and honest the people will be, the happier their life will be in future.

8.      In some organizations, promotions are based on seniority, while in other organizations, promotion is based on performance. Discuss the advantage of each position. Then indicate which position is best and why.

All the organizations in the world provide promotion to their employees according to their policy, promotion based on seniority or promotion based on performance. The success of any organization depends on the workers.

Some organization provide promotion based on seniority, this has advantages like; firstly, the senior people are the one who have seen the organization in different stages and also have more experiences, those who stayed long in company and served  more than other and those people know more about the organization than any other new worker have, promoting them allows the worker to give more time to serve the organization, makes them more satisfied and a satisfied workers does the best work in any organization, they are more cautious about the work and try to do more better work in future.

Some organization provide promotions based on performance, this has advantages like there will not be biased among the workers and the decision will be clear as all the people have seen each other working in the company. This allows the worker with more skills get higher than other, doing this the skilled worker will be more satisfied and other worker will also try to do better work in order to get promotion. The promotion strategy will also appear fair among all the workers and there will not be any kinds of dispute among them.

Thus, both systems have certain advantages I will prefer promotion based on performance as all the people in the organization will get the chance and the competition and the results will be fair among all and this also encourage other workers to do best to gain the promotion.

  

9.      Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?  “Television advertisements directed towards young children (aged two to five) should not be allowed.” Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Television is the most widely used form of advertisement in todays world, we can see advertisements of almost everything that we use in real life in television. In fact, we get to know about many new products only through those advertisements in television. I disagree to the statement that “Television advertisements directed toward young children (aged two to five) should not be allowed”) because the content a child should see must be controlled by the parents and these advertisements are useful to know about many new things.

Firstly, if any children watch television and see all those children products in television and start demanding those or if they start any bad habits then it is the responsibility of parents to control what they see in television and what they need and what they do not need. An advertiser does not think about how the children will react looking that because all they want is money and more customers. I think not allowing the advertisements does not prevent any much things as the children will be under the control of parents. It all depends on the parents to let their children see or pamper about those products. Also, advertisements allow the children to learn something new and also pass their time and entertain them.

Secondly, these advertisements allow parents to know about new things that are available in market for children. Not all the advertised products can be not useful, some can be very useful to all the parents. Allowing the advertisements allows to know about any new product in market and how to use those too.

Thus, the content the children sees is in control of parents and also those advertisements can be beneficial to know about any products in market, I think this is not a good idea to ban advertisements targeting young children (aged two to five).
